How American Politics Went Crazy: Why Republicans embraced Trump and Democrats embraced socialism almost overnight
Lecture by Peter Beinart (CUNY)
What exactly is going on in the US?!
Trump was elected in 2016 to the U.S. presidency as a Republican candidate, retreat from the Paris agreement, children of immigrants separated from their families, Mueller investigations, Russia, Ukraine.
And with Democrats, Hillary lost to Trump and resigned from political life, they took over the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren contesting the presidency on an economically far-reaching platform and the whole party is trying to impeach the president.
And what about Israel?!
Confused? That's why we're here for!
Next week, the renowned Jewish-American journalist Peter Beinart will pay a visit to TAU. How come the Republican Party has embraced Trump, and the Democratic Party has embraced socialism. And, in fact, is there any center in the American political system?
